CLASSES
Mysore Classes
Self practice with individual attention from the instructor in the room. This is the original method of instruction given by Krishnamacharya and passed on by his disciple Sri K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore hence the name Mysore style. Students practice at their own pace and level with postures completed in its correct sequence. The instructor is there to assist and advise individually whenever needed. As the student progresses, more advanced postures are introduced.
Back To Basics
This class breaks down postures while still maintaining a flow to prepare you for the Ashtanga series. Breath and core is always a prime focus, but themes vary every week. This class is designed for those who have gone through the 8 week Introduction to Astanga Yoga pre-registered course but complete beginners and even seasoned practitioners are welcome.
Level 1: Introduction to Ashtanga yoga
Classes for students new to Ashtanga.
Emphasis is placed firstly on movement with the breath (vinyasa) Sun salutations, standing postures and postures from the primary series are introduced with alignment as an essential aspect of the instruction. Even experienced practitioners can benefit from this class.
Level 2: An extension of the level one where more postures from the primary series is added.
Variations of some of the more difficult postures are also shown with the key to alignment, which allows one to unfold the energy from the practice. The flow of the class is faster so familiarity with level one is essential.
Level 3: Be ready to sweat!
This class is for students with an established practice with knowledge of the alternative postures (if necessary).
Full primary series is taught and postures from the intermediate series are introduced.
Hatha Yoga
Using a series of flowing postures based in Ashtanga yoga, this class allows room for experimentation and offers lots of variety. Through a playful exploration of your body, you build strength, coordination and flexibility. All levels are welcome.
Restorative Yoga
By its very nature, restorative yoga is an opportunity for you to renew and heal on all levels; be it physical injuries, fatigue or stress. Beyond this, it is an opportunity for self discovery.
Each pose being held for 10 minutes or more, fully supported, opens the space for total surrender of bodymind
and a more clear vision of yourself. A perfect complement to the Ashtanga practice.
Funky Friday
This fun, high energy class is set to groovy music and takes a creative twist on the Ashtanga series. Core is always a prime focus, but themes vary every week. All are welcome but be prepared to sweat! A little experience is suggested.
Wild Wednesday
This upbeat and fast-moving Ashtanga-inspired class follows the same fluidity and groove of Funky Friday without the music. Variations are offered so that all levels are challenged. Some experience is suggested.
